On Wednesday night, a police constable took his own life at the Nzoia police patrol base in Likuyani Sub-County, Kakamega County.

According to Sergeant Jomo Japya, the Officer In-charge, he heard gunshots and alerted his colleagues, who accompanied him to investigate the incident.

Upon reaching the police post, they found Constable Richard Wahome, who was on duty, lying in a pool of blood. The officer had shot himself with an AK-47 gun.

Two spent cartridges were found at the scene, and the reasons behind the officer's actions are still unknown. An investigation into the incident is currently underway, led by Kakamega County Police Commander Bernard Muli.
