EMUI 10: A New Era for Huawei Devices

Published on August 9, 2019, Huawei took the stage at its developer conference to unveil the latest version of its Android overlay, EMUI 10. This new operating system is based on Android Q and promises to bring several exciting features to Huawei devices.

One of the top features of EMUI 10 is the system-wide dark mode, which will be available on Huawei devices for the first time. Additionally, the operating system will also introduce a coloured Always-On display, similar to what is seen on Samsung smartphones.

EMUI 10 will also enable users to make full high-definition video calls among themselves and connect to other Huawei gear they own, such as smart speakers or home camera systems. This will provide a deeper plug into the Huawei ecosystem, allowing users to seamlessly interact with their devices.

Other features of EMUI 10 include a multi-screen collaboration feature, which will allow users to drag and drop files between their personal computer and smartphone desktops/home screens. The operating system will also interface with HiCar, Huawei's own Android Auto alternative, to provide a more integrated experience.

EMUI 10 will also bring performance improvements, including a 20% boost to the EROFS file system, as well as improved GPU Turbo and Turbo Link performance. This will result in better handling of games and regular read/write operations.

The P30 series will be the first to receive EMUI 10, with beta builds available starting September 8th. Other devices scheduled to receive the update include the Mate 30 series, which is expected to launch in the final quarter of the year.
