On August 16, 2019, Kenyan rugby players Alex Olaba and Frank Wanyama will learn their fate after being found guilty of gang raping a female musician.

The court, led by Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku, found the two men guilty on Thursday, August 8, 2019, after they were charged with the offence in April 2018.

The incident occurred at Seefar Apartments in Nairobi's Highrise, where the two men reportedly raped the musician at one of their residences.

During the sentencing hearing, the court was urged to consider the age and background of the two men, who were 23 and 22 years old at the time of the incident, compared to the 24-year-old complainant.

Olaba and Wanyama's lawyer argued that they came from humble backgrounds and had only met the victim by chance on the day of the incident.
