On Thursday, Steven Pollack marked the beginning of his latest managerial chapter with Gor Mahia FC, a chapter he hopes will bring the team greater success.
As the English-Finnish manager formally took over the reins, the club also unveiled its 17 new signings ahead of the new Kenyan Premier League season.
On Sunday, Pollack will take charge of Gor for the first time when the KPL champions face Aigle Noir of Burundi in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round clash.
Pollack succeeds Hassan Oktay, who achieved unprecedented success at Gor, including guiding the club to a first-ever CAF Champions League quarter-finals appearance.
"They did really well last season and most of the years they did quite well so I'm not going to change much. I'm not going to change too much but hopefully the changes will help the team move forward," Pollack said.
Despite losing key players, including captain Harun Shakava and talismanic forward Jacques Tuyisenge, Pollack remains adamant he can sustain the team's success.
"It's not easy and it won't be easy but like I said earlier I like to be number one; to be competitive and that is something I believe this team will be," Pollack said.
Gor will begin their domestic campaign with a league clash against Tusker FC on September 1, a week after hosting Aigle Noir in Nairobi for the return leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round clash.
