On August 8, 2019, Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku ruled that Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba, two Kenyan rugby players, were guilty of raping a woman in Nairobi on February 10, 2018.
The two players, who were out on 500,000 shillings cash bail each, will remain in custody for the next week as the prosecution seeks a minimum 15-year custodial sentence.
According to the court, Wanyama and Olaba committed the offence at Seefar apartments in Highrise, Nairobi, on February 11, 2018.
The woman, who attended a party in Kilimani where the two rugby players were present, claimed that she was raped repeatedly after a night of merry-making, while in an intoxicated state.
