On August 9, 2019, Romelu Lukaku made a significant move to Inter Milan, citing the opportunity to play under Antonio Conte as a major factor in his decision.
Speaking to club media, Lukaku praised Conte as the world's best coach, highlighting his ability to improve players.
"A lot... he's the best manager in the world," Lukaku said, explaining the influence Conte had on his decision to join Inter Milan.
Conte has been a long-time admirer of Lukaku and previously tried to sign him for Chelsea before his move from Everton to Manchester United in 2017.
At 26, Lukaku is Belgium's all-time top scorer with 48 goals and will be at the centre of Inter's attack, taking the number 9 shirt away from former club captain Mauro Icardi.
According to reports, Lukaku will earn 8.5 million euros a season at Inter Milan, with the club paying Manchester United an initial 65 million euros over five years, plus 10 million euros in potential add-ons.
Inter Milan have strengthened their squad by signing veteran Uruguayan international defender Diego Godin and promising midfielder Nicolo Barella, and are reportedly close to bringing in Edin Dzeko.
