On August 8, 2019, Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior offered to provide free legal advice to 14-year-old gymnast Wendy Waeni, who claimed that her former manager Joe Mwangi had exploited and conned her and her foundation.
Senator Mutula shared a photo of himself with Wendy Waeni at the beginning of her career, stating that the photo was taken by Joe Mwangi, who was her manager at the time.
"This picture was taken by Joe Mwangi in my office. The statement by Wendy on JKL yesterday is a criminal complaint," Senator Mutula tweeted.
Senator Johnson Sakaja, who was prompted by Senator Mutula's tweet, offered to provide his side of the story as well.
Joe Mwangi, who managed to keep his alleged conning acts under the radar, has found himself in a difficult situation after Wendy Waeni's accusations.
