On August 9, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley of Barbados met in Bridgetown to strengthen their countries' bilateral ties.

The two leaders signed two key agreements, a Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of a Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) and another on Political Consultations.

President Kenyatta emphasized the importance of economic activities in enabling people-to-people engagement between the two countries.
