On August 9, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta extended an invitation to the Barbadian business community to invest in Kenya, highlighting the country's favorable business environment.
Speaking at a business forum in Bridgetown, Barbados, President Kenyatta emphasized that Kenya has put in place mechanisms such as protection of investment legislation to facilitate an enabling business environment.
He noted that Kenya's strategic location as a signatory to several regional treaties makes it a gateway to the East African market and beyond.
“Kenya is an entry point into the African market and if your businesses come to Kenya, they will get access to an African population of 1.2 billion,” President Kenyatta assured the Barbadian business community.
He highlighted several emerging areas that present lucrative opportunities for foreign investment, including the tourism sector, mobile money, renewable energy, blue economy, and affordable housing.
President Kenyatta also emphasized the importance of partnership between Kenya and Barbados, stating that their collaboration would be mutually beneficial.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley echoed President Kenyatta's sentiments, emphasizing the need for private sector investment in both countries and encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises to participate.
