On August 9, 2019, Huawei made a significant announcement at the Huawei Developer Conference, unveiling their new open source Operating System called HARMONY, now officially known as HarmonyOS.
According to Huawei, HarmonyOS is a microkernel-based, distributed operating system designed to deliver a cohesive user experience across all devices and scenarios. The company aims to have HarmonyOS 1.0 in smart screen products later this year, with plans to optimize and gradually adopt the OS across a broader range of smart devices over the next three years.
