On August 9, 2019, the lifeless body of Belinda Akeyo Achieng, a 22-year-old Fourth Year Bachelor of Education student, was discovered in her rented house in Lurambi.

According to post-mortem results, Achieng died from a stroke caused by a rare condition where one of the ventricles in her brain exploded due to cholesterol deposition, leading to bleeding in the brain.

A pathologist from Kakamega County Hospital revealed that the brain's normal activity was disrupted, resulting in Achieng's death.

Her body was taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue.

Just days prior, the lifeless body of Suzan Makena, a 22-year-old former Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) student, was found in the sea in Dubai on her birthday.

Friends and family members are still coming to terms with the tragic loss of Makena, who left the country five months ago.

Contrary to initial reports, post-mortem results from Dubai police showed that Suzie slipped and drowned, with her body found at 8am on July 31.
