Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has taken a dramatic step in his ongoing feud with Deputy President William Ruto, recording a statement with the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over alleged harassment.
The move comes as the investigation into a plot to undermine the DP continues, with three Cabinet secretaries and other top officials facing scrutiny.
According to officials from the DCI Headquarters, Dr Kibicho recorded his statement on Tuesday evening, detailing his version of events and citing an incident at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) last month.
"The PS was at the DCI headquarters last evening to give his version of the happenings and details of those who witnessed the same," said a top government official close to the Interior PS.
The frosty relationship between Ruto and Kibicho played out publicly a month ago when the DP confronted the PS at the airport, where an argument ensued.
The two were waiting for President Uhuru Kenyatta's arrival, who was on a working trip overseas.
