On April 2018, Kenyan singer Wendy Kemunto revealed a harrowing ordeal of being gang raped by two rugby players, Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba. The shocking revelation sparked public scrutiny and criticism, but Kemunto bravely shared her story, which eventually led to justice being served.

On August 9, 2019, the court delivered a guilty verdict against the two rugby players, who had been accused of repeatedly raping Kemunto on her birthday, February 10th. The court's decision came after a thorough investigation and DNA evidence collection.

As the news broke, the rugby club the players were associated with released a statement, which was later followed by the players' threat to sue Kemunto for blackmail, defamation, and libel. However, they eventually recorded statements at the Kilimani Police Station and provided DNA samples, leading to their conviction.
