On August 9, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Bungoma County, where a middle-aged woman allegedly killed her husband following a heated disagreement over money.
According to reports, the woman claimed that her husband, Ronald Simiyu Wekesa, had stolen Sh1,000 from her and refused to return it. The husband, who was reportedly drunk, returned home in the evening, leading to a heated argument between the couple.
The woman, who was accused of squandering her husband's money on alcohol, allegedly hit her 53-year-old husband with a blunt object on the head and cut him on the leg using a machete.
Neighbours reported hearing a commotion in the house before the woman called them to see how she had 'punished her husband for wasting her money.'
Simiyu was pronounced dead on arrival at Lugulu Mission Hospital, with his brother stating that they had called an ambulance but realized their brother had passed away before it arrived.
The suspect was detained at Mbakalo Police Station pending arraignment.
