On Wednesday afternoon, the Homa Bay county assembly was in session, discussing the lack of shades in markets. However, the proceedings were disrupted when a member of the assembly let out a loud fart.

The incident occurred after the lawmakers returned from their lunch break. The MCA for Homa Bay Town East ward, Mr Juma Awuor, was on the floor discussing the issue when the smell wafted through the air.

Central Karachuonyo MCA Julius Gaya pointed out the culprit, saying, "Honorable speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is."

However, the accused MCA denied the allegations, stating, "I am not the one. I cannot do such a thing in front of my colleagues," he told the Speaker.

Proceedings were suspended for about 10 minutes to allow the members to catch some fresh air and the pungent smell to dissipate. The speaker asked the assembly's sergeants to find air fresheners to make the environment more pleasant.

Before the sergeants could get back to the house, the odour had cleared, and the debate continued.
