Published on August 9, 2019, the Kitui County Assembly has recommended the removal of two county executive members for having fake university degrees.

Philip Mumo, in charge of Trade, Cooperatives, and Investments, and Rosaita Mbukua Ngina, former health Executive, are accused of submitting falsified information and forged university degree certificates to the House's Appointment Committee.

The MCAs have given Governor Charity Ngilu a week to sack the two executives, failing which the assembly will initiate an impeachment process.

Majority Leader Peter Kilonzo also proposed that the names of the two be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for appropriate disciplinary action.

The assembly further resolved to push the matter to the Assets Recovery Agency for recovery of all monies, whether salaries, assets or otherwise, that were received or acquired by Mumo and Ngina during their employment.
