On August 9, 2019, Arsenal signed David Luiz from Chelsea in a deal worth £8million.
The 32-year-old Brazilian defender had expressed his desire to move across London and join the Gunners, citing concerns over his role at Chelsea under new boss Frank Lampard.
Lampard had given the green light to letting Luiz depart after issues at the club's Cobham training base earlier in the week.
Luiz's agent, Kia Joorabchain, shares a connection with Arsenal's transfer chiefs Edu and Raul Sanllehi, which may have facilitated the deal.
Everton had also expressed interest in signing Luiz, but the Gunners were able to secure his services.
Luiz reunites with Unai Emery, with whom he worked briefly at Paris Saint-Germain before returning to Chelsea in 2016.
Emery said, "David has huge experience and I look forward to working with him again. He is a well-known player and adds to our defensive strength."
