Published on August 9, 2019, the Raspberry Pi 4 is a powerful single-board computer designed for a wide range of applications.

At its core is the Broadcom BCM2711, a quad-core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit System-on-Chip (SoC) operating at 1.5GHz.

The Raspberry Pi 4 is available in three models, each with a different amount of LPDDR4-2400 SDRAM: 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB.

Wireless connectivity is provided by 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11ac, while Bluetooth 5.0 and BLE are also supported.

For wired connectivity, the Raspberry Pi 4 features Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 3.0 ports, as well as two USB 2.0 ports.

The board also includes a Raspberry Pi standard 40-pin GPIO header, fully backwards compatible with previous boards.

Display and camera ports are provided by two-lane MIPI DSI and two-lane MIPI CSI, respectively.

Audio and video output are supported through a 4-pole stereo audio and composite video port.

The Raspberry Pi 4 also supports H.265 (4kp60 decode) and H264 (1080p60 decode, 1080p30 encode) video codecs, as well as OpenGL ES 3.0 graphics.

Power is provided via a 5V DC USB-C connector (minimum 3A) or the GPIO header (minimum 3A).

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is also enabled, but requires a separate PoE HAT.

The operating temperature range is 0 – 50 degrees C ambient.
