On August 9, 2019, Safeboda, a leading motorcycle taxi service in Kenya, expanded its services to include parcel delivery. This new feature allows users to send packages to their desired destinations, leveraging Safeboda's extensive network of riders and digital platform.

How to Send Parcels with Safeboda

  • Open the Safeboda app and select the 'Send' option.
  • Input the delivery destination and add the recipient's contact details, including name and phone number.
  • Enter package details, such as the type of item being sent (e.g., clothes, glasses, phone).
  • Provide extra delivery instructions, if necessary (e.g., 1st Floor).
  • Enter pickup details, including your name, number, and location.
  • Payment is made cashless only, ensuring a secure and hassle-free transaction.
  • Request a rider or pair with a nearby rider to complete the delivery.

Safeboda's decision to make cashless payments the only option for deliveries may seem restrictive, but it ensures that riders deliver items before receiving payment, guaranteeing the package's safe arrival at its destination.

It's worth noting that Safeboda has set a weight limit of 15kgs for parcels and requires them to fit on the motorcycle.

Safeboda's innovative approach to motorcycle taxis, including rider numbering, digital wallets, and pairing with riders, has made it a convenient and reliable option for Kenyans. This new parcel delivery service is expected to further enhance the company's offerings and customer experience.
