On Saturday, August 3, 2019, reports emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta had snubbed Deputy President William Ruto at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The claims sparked a heated debate on social media, with many questioning the authenticity of the reports.

However, in a swift response, DP Ruto took to Twitter to deny the claims, calling them 'fake news'. 'FAKE NEWS ALERT!!! I was nowhere near JKIA. I am NOT surprised that some media houses & their owners are this desperate. Tuwasamehe tu!!' Ruto posted on his Twitter account.

According to reports, DP Ruto had gone to the JKIA to receive President Uhuru, but the President allegedly decided not to use the VIP pavilion where Ruto was waiting. However, DP Ruto has since come out to deny the claims, stating that he was nowhere near the JKIA on the material day.

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen also joined the DP in denying the claims, taking a swipe at Senator Gideon Moi, who is one of the owners of KTN studios which broke the story. 'Around 6.30PM he (Ruto) left Kajiado for Nairobi. Meanwhile HE Uhuru Kenyatta jetted back at around 5PM. Now see how my colleague Gideon Moi has reported. Pettines & desperation!' Murkomen posted on Twitter.
