David Luiz Joins Arsenal in £8m Deal ¶
On August 8, 2019, Brazilian defender David Luiz sealed a sensational move to Arsenal on transfer deadline day, joining the club on a two-year deal for a reported £8m fee.
Luiz, who will wear the no.23 shirt at the Emirates, is expected to bolster Arsenal's porous defence ahead of the new season.
He will reunite with Unai Emery, who he worked under at Paris Saint-Germain, and is expected to add more depth to the squad with his immense experience in the Premier League.
Emery hailed the transfer, saying, "David has huge experience and I look forward to working with him again. He is a well known player and adds to our defensive strength."
Luiz began his footballing career with Brazilian outfit Vitoria before moving to Portugal to play for Benfica.
