On August 8, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Bungoma County, where a middle-aged woman allegedly killed her husband following a dispute over Ksh.1,000.

The woman claimed that her husband, Ronald Simiyu Wekesa, had stolen Ksh.1,000 from her the previous week and refused to return the money.

According to eyewitnesses, the couple's neighbour, Patrick Kakai, reported hearing a commotion in the house before the woman called him to see how she had punished her husband for wasting her money.

"His wife called me to see how she had punished Simiyu for using her money to drink. At first, I thought he had only been cut on the leg but when I moved closer, his head was lying on a pool of blood and he was also breathing heavily," said Patrick Kakai.

Despite efforts to save him, Ronald Simiyu Wekesa was pronounced dead on arrival at Lugulu Mission Hospital.

His brother, Bonaventure Wekesa, stated that they called an ambulance but realized that his brother had passed away upon arrival.

The woman, identified as Mbakalo sub-location Assistant Chief Christine Wanyala, was detained at Mbakalo Police Station pending arraignment.
