On August 8, 2019, Cell C announced the permanent appointment of Douglas Craigie Stevenson as its Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Stevenson's appointment was unanimously approved by the Cell C Board, which praised his leadership in improving the company's financial stability, business ethics, and operational performance.
As interim CEO, Stevenson led the company to significant improvements in just five months, earning the full support of the board and its Chairman, Kuben Pillay.
Stevenson joined Cell C in October 2017, following the Blue Label recapitalisation, and has since played a critical role in the company's operational divisions, including property and procurement, technical operations, and regional retail operations.
With over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Stevenson has held various senior positions across Africa, including South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of the Free State and a Bachelor of Accounting Science (Honours) from UNISA.
