On August 8, 2019, Accor, the largest hotel chain outside the US, announced plans to open its first MGallary Hotel Collection in Gigiri, Nairobi, in the first quarter of 2021.

The 105-room property, a partnership between Accor and Jit Group, will be the fifth under the hospitality group in Nairobi.

Accor already operates three hotels in Kenya, including The Fairmont, Mövenpick, and ibis Styles brands.

Its fourth Nairobi hotel, a Pullman-branded property, is set to open in the last quarter of 2019.

According to Mark Willis, Accor's Middle East and Africa chief executive, the company has identified Nairobi as a key market for development due to its status as East Africa's economic, financial, and transport hub.

MGallery Gigiri will feature 105 rooms and suites, four restaurants, a rooftop restaurant and bar, meeting rooms, a business centre, and wellness facilities including a gym, pool, and spa.
