On October 10th, 2017, a heated exchange between newly elected MPs Babu Owino and Charles Njagua, aka Jaguar, turned violent in Parliament.
According to a video trending on social media, the scuffle began at the Parliament media centre, where someone shouted at Babu, 'You must respect the president' (Lazima uheshimu president).
Babu Owino responded, 'He is a custodian president' (huyo ni caretaker president), which sparked a physical altercation.
The fight spilled outside, with Jaguar yelling, 'Don't hide in the toilet Babu, we will get you' (Usijifiche Kwa choo Babu tutakushika).
Babu Owino retorted, 'This should be an inclusive government and not divisive' (Hii serikali inafaa ikue ya watu wote).
Just a month prior, Babu Owino was charged with political incitement and released on bond, with the NASA coalition terming it selective prosecution by the Jubilee administration.
