Kenya Volleyball Federation has appointed Paul Bitok as the new head coach of the national women's volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, on a short-term contract.
Bitok, a former Kenyan international, returns to the country after a 10-year coaching stint in Rwanda, where he replaces Shaileen Ramdoo who was seconded to Kenya by the FIVB in May 2019.
Bitok's first assignment as the new coach will be to lead the team at the African Games in Morocco from August 16 to 31, where Kenya is the defending champion, having won the title in 2015 in Congo Brazaville with a second-string side led by coach Paul Gitau.
"How long he (Bitok) remains with the team will depend on how he performs in Morocco," Kenya Volleyball Federation president Waithaka Kioni told Nation Sport on August 8, 2019.
