On February 10, 2018, a musician was brutally gang-raped by two Kenya Harlequin rugby players, Alex Mahaga Olaba and Lawrence Frank Wanyama, at Seefa Apartments in Highrise, Nairobi.

According to the victim, she got pregnant after the ordeal and alleged that one of her attackers had threatened to sue her if she went public with the matter.

On August 8, 2019, the court found the two players guilty of the heinous crime.

Mr. Olaba and Mr. Wanyama will be sentenced on Friday, August 9, 2019.

Earlier in July 2019, Nairobi Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku issued a warrant for Mr. Mahaga's arrest after he skipped court for the second time.

Mr. Mahaga and Mr. Wanyama had been released on Sh500,000 cash bail each after denying the charge, which was reduced from Sh1 million due to their financial constraints.
