Published on August 8, 2019, reports in the UK suggest that top clubs in the Premier League, including Bournemouth, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Burnley, were interested in the services of the midfielder.

However, Bournemouth have since completed the signing of Phillip Billing from Huddersfield, making a possible switch to Dean Court unlikely.

Wanyama's future at Spurs was thrown into sharp speculation following the summer arrival of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, who has taken his place in the midfield.

With the London-based side plotting a late swoop for Giovani Lo Celso, Wanyama's place in Spurs' midfield could be thrown into further jeopardy.

Wanyama joined Spurs from Southampton on a five-year deal in the summer of 2016 for a fee in the region of £11m.
