On August 8, 2019, it was reported that Kieran Tierney, a 22-year-old Scottish defender, was close to joining Premier League side Arsenal.
According to sources, the £25million fee had been agreed with Celtic, and Tierney was set to sign a five-year contract and undergo a medical before the transfer window shut at 5pm.
Tierney, who has won four league titles with Celtic, had played just nine matches last season due to a double hernia operation.
He was last seen playing for Celtic on May 4, 2019, and was expected to make his debut for Arsenal in their Premier League opener against Newcastle.
Despite initial offers being rejected, Arsenal had upped their price and secured the signature of the Scotland international.
