August 8, 2019 - The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has put its radar on an MCA allied to Governor Alfred Mutua over shoddy construction works in his ward.

Caleb Mutiso, the MCA for Kiima Kimwe-Muvuti ward in Machakos Town, is facing allegations of using his closeness to the governor to have all construction tenders in the ward awarded to companies he jointly owns with his brothers.

Residents are now demanding that EACC investigate how Mutiso has turned into an overnight millionaire by allegedly using his position and closeness to the governor to have his companies do all roads in his ward, citing it as a case of conflict of interest.

Residents have cited cases where the MCA is even paid before the start of the work, arm-twisting county finance officials by invoking the name of the governor to have his way.

The MCA, who drives a Toyota V8 and Isuzu double cabin, and has put up a new mansion in Mua, is the talk of town and his ward where residents are wallowing in poverty and lack of water.

Residents now want EACC to carry out a proper lifestyle audit to ascertain his new source of wealth.

They also demand that two companies associated with the MCA's brothers be investigated on how they were awarded roads works in the ward through single sourcing.
