Bomet Deputy Governor Dr. Hillary Barchok Set to Take Office as New Governor

Dr. Hillary Barchok, the outgoing Deputy Governor of Bomet, is set to take office as the new Governor of Bomet County on Thursday, August 8, 2019.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Bomet Green Stadium, with Deputy President William Ruto expected to be the chief guest.

According to Chairperson of the Assumption of Office of the Governor Committee Evelyne Rono, other notable guests will include Council of Governors boss Wycliffe Oparanya and various Cabinet Secretaries.

The ceremony will be conducted by Kericho High Court Judge George Dullu.

Dr. Barchok's appointment comes after the passing of Joyce Laboso, the former Governor of Bomet, who succumbed to cancer at the Nairobi Hospital on July 29, 2019.

Laboso was laid to rest in a State funeral at her matrimonial family home in Fort Ternan, Kisumu County, on August 3, 2019.
