August 8, 2019 - The website of Betin Kenya remains down days after the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) directed the IT firm hosting the betting firm's web domain to bring it down over the ongoing licensing dispute.
The CA had ordered Deep Africa, the tech firm that hosts Betin Kenya's website, to shut down its internet domain, citing non-compliance with tax regulations.
According to a letter to the Senate, the CA instructed Deep Africa to shut down the company's internet web domain www.betin.co.ke.
The government had earlier suspended the licenses of 27 betting firms, including Betin Kenya, pending the outcome of an inquiry into their suitability to operate in the country.
Betin Kenya has reassured its customers that their deposits are safe, but the company's business has been paralyzed in the country, with its M-Pesa pay-bill also disabled, preventing new deposits.
