Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has been hospitalized in Singapore since April, according to his successor Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Mr. Mugabe, 95, was making 'good progress' and could be discharged soon, Mr. Mnangagwa added, without disclosing the former president's illness.
Mr. Mugabe's hospitalization comes after he was unable to walk due to ill-health and old age, as stated by Mr. Mnangagwa in November.
Mr. Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe for 38 years until his forced resignation in 2017, following a military-led house arrest and parliamentary threats to impeach him.
His resignation paved the way for Mr. Mnangagwa, his former deputy, to take power.
Mr. Mugabe regularly travels to Singapore for medical check-ups, but this time, his physicians determined that he be kept under observation for a longer period.
Many Zimbabwean politicians seek medical treatment abroad due to the country's poor health services.
