Comedian Njugush has made a name for himself in the Kenyan entertainment industry, but he has one significant regret - not loving himself more when he was younger.
Speaking to the Standard's Sunday Magazine, Njugush, whose real name is Timothy Kimani, revealed that he wishes he had prioritized self-love over other relationships.
'I wish I had loved myself more,' he said. 'Not doing so is my biggest regret. I always cared about other people more than me.'
Njugush's regret stems from his tendency to waste time and energy on people who didn't truly care about him, while neglecting those who would be there for him in times of need.
'You waste so much time, money, and emotions on people who do not even care about you,' he said. 'I always wonder what I could have achieved if I had loved myself more back then.'
His post has resonated with fans and followers, who share similar sentiments about prioritizing self-love.
Just two months ago, Njugush experienced one of the toughest moments in his life when he lost a cousin to depression.
'Depression stinks and many do not understand it,' he said. 'People see you turn to alcohol and think that the alcohol is what caused the depression, yet the reverse is true.'
