On August 8, 2019, Dr Hillary Barchok was sworn in as the third governor of Bomet County, succeeding the late Dr Joyce Laboso.

The ceremony, held in a public event in Bomet, was attended by Deputy President William Ruto and other high-ranking officials.

Following the swearing-in, Barchok was subjected to intense prayer by a group of clergy and men of God, who surrounded him and offered supplications.
