On August 7, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Barbados, marking the beginning of his official visit to the Caribbean nation. The visit comes on the heels of his successful tour in Jamaica, where he had a chance to view agricultural produce at the 67th Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show.
According to Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma, President Kenyatta will engage in talks with Prime Minister Mia Mottley to discuss ways of deepening bilateral relations, strategies for African common prosperity, and cooperation in multilateral issues.
During his visit, President Kenyatta will also participate in a Caribbean Heads of Government meeting at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, attend a dinner, and a cultural evening hosted by the Prime Minister.
President Kenyatta's visit to Barbados is part of his official tour of Caribbean countries, which aims to strengthen ties and explore opportunities for cooperation.
On August 7, 2019, President Kenyatta instructed Kenya's Ambassador in Cuba, Anthony Muchiri, to divide his time equally between Cuba and Jamaica, with a focus on supporting the Kenyan diaspora in Jamaica and creating more opportunities for Kenyans in the Caribbean nation.
Speaking during a meeting with the Kenyan diaspora in Kingston, President Kenyatta emphasized the importance of supporting the diaspora community and creating opportunities for Kenyans in the Caribbean.
