On August 8, 2019, residents of Kiabunda village in Kinangop, Nyandarua County, rescued two girls aged 11 and 14 from a sex trade operation.
The girls were allegedly being forced by their mothers to sleep with a man in exchange for Sh1,000 each.
Locals, acting on a tip-off, stormed one of the women's houses and caught the man in the act, with one of the girls living with a disability.
Area police boss Jane Munywoki confirmed the incident, stating that the man was detained at Njabini Police Station pending further investigations.
However, the women were not arrested as no one had recorded a statement against them.
