Published on August 8, 2019, Nairobi News reported on Raila Odinga's mysterious rise to power within the Jubilee government.

Just 16 months ago, Odinga was an outcast and sworn enemy to President Uhuru Kenyatta, with the ruling party's MPs and senior government officials frequently criticizing him in public.

However, things have changed dramatically, with Odinga now hosting high-ranking government officials and attending key events, including a trip to China with President Kenyatta in April.

Recent meetings with Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia, officials from the Lamu Port, South Sudan, Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor Development Authority, and the Chairman of the National Police Service Commission, Eluid Kinuthia, have further solidified Odinga's new status.

According to Odinga, these meetings have focused on key issues such as the preparations for International Youth Day, the mega LAPSSET project, and the role of the National Police Service Commission in furtherance of their constitutionally mandated functions.
