On August 8, 2019, Bomet county will witness a significant change in leadership as Hillary Barchok takes the oath of office to become the new governor.
Deputy President William Ruto will be the chief guest at the swearing-in ceremony, which is expected to kick off at around 10am at Bomet Green Stadium.
Hillary Barchok has been holding the position in an acting capacity since May 2019, when his now deceased boss, Joyce Laboso, took a medical leave to seek treatment abroad.
Laboso passed away on July 29, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Her burial took place in Fort Ternan, Koru, Kisumu county, four days prior to Barchok's swearing-in.
With Barchok's inauguration, he will become Bomet's third governor in history, following Isaac Ruto and late Laboso.
