Published on August 8, 2019, reports suggest that Arsenal have agreed a fee with Celtic for the transfer of Kieran Tierney, who is set to travel to London for a medical.
The 22-year-old Scottish left-back has been a target for the Gunners all summer, with two previous bids being rejected by Celtic. However, the clubs have now reached an agreement on the payment structure of a £25 million move.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon had previously expressed his reluctance to lose Tierney, saying, "If he goes, he goes with everyone's best wishes. He's an outstanding talent and a great kid." However, it appears that Tierney's departure is now imminent.
Meanwhile, Arsenal's search for centre-back cover could also be resolved on Thursday with the signing of David Luiz from Chelsea. The 32-year-old did not train with his Chelsea teammates on Wednesday, fuelling speculation about his future.
Arsenal coach Unai Emery has expressed his desire to strengthen the team's defence, saying, "If we can on the last day, we will try to sign another centre-back, but one who has the capacity to help us." The Gunners conceded 51 goals in the Premier League last season, and their defence was further weakened by the departure of club captain Laurent Koscielny to Bordeaux on Tuesday.
