Galaxy NOTE 10 and NOTE 10+ ¶
At the recent Unpacked event, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy NOTE 10 and NOTE 10+, two new devices that mark a significant departure from previous NOTE series.
The NOTE 10 and NOTE 10+ differ in several key areas, including display size, battery capacity, and storage options. The NOTE 10 features a 6.3-inch Full HD display, a 3500mAh battery, and 8GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage. In contrast, the NOTE 10+ boasts a 6.8-inch Quad HD display, a 4300mAh battery, and the option for 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The NOTE 10+ also features an additional depthvision camera, setting it apart from its smaller sibling. Pricing for the NOTE 10 starts at $949, while the NOTE 10+ begins at $1099. Interestingly, this year's NOTE 10 is priced lower than last year's NOTE 9.
Samsung has also announced a 5G variant of the NOTE 10 series, although it will be significantly more expensive than the LTE versions.
Galaxy Active 2 Under Armour Edition ¶
As part of the Unpacked event, Samsung also unveiled a new variant of the Galaxy Active 2 smartwatch in partnership with Under Armour. This device integrates with the company's fitness ecosystem and will retail for $309.
It remains to be seen whether this smartwatch will be available in Kenya, although Samsung Kenya has shown a renewed commitment to the local market in recent times.
Galaxy Tab S6 ¶
The Galaxy Tab S6 is another device that was unveiled at the Unpacked event. This tablet features a large, high-quality display and a stylus that is easier to use than the NOTE 10's stylus. The Tab S6 also boasts DeX support, allowing users to easily switch between interfaces.
However, one concern with Android tablets is the issue of updates. Will Samsung commit to providing updates for the Tab S6 over the next 4-5 years, similar to Apple's approach?
Galaxy Book S Laptop ¶
The Galaxy Book S laptop was a major surprise at the Unpacked event. This device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and features a 13-inch Full HD touch screen, SIM and MicroSD card slots, and up to 23 hours of battery life on a single charge.
However, it remains to be seen whether Samsung will bring this device to Kenya, given its relatively high price point of $999.
