On Wednesday, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua held a round table meeting with development partners to discuss areas of partnership, paving the way for multi-billion investments in the county.

The meeting brought together representatives from various international organizations, including Ambassadors, Head of Missions, and Head of United Nations Bodies, among others.

According to Governor Mutua, the round table engagements secured commitments worth close to Ksh.50 billion to be injected into various development projects in Machakos.

"I am very pleased with the large turnout and the fruitful discussions. We highlighted our development agenda, our many successes and the massive remaining gaps which require funding so as to fully achieve our program of poverty eradication and economic growth in all sectors," Dr. Mutua said.

During the meeting, Governor Mutua sought technical support on financial systems management, external resources mobilization, and revenue management systems.

He also requested assistance in addressing the water deficit for the county's approximately 1.5 million residents, including the construction of mega dams, reticulation for boreholes, elevated steel tanks, solar powering systems, and construction of weirs.

Additionally, the county government sought partnerships in healthcare provision, including cancer prevention and management, disaster preparedness, blood management system, community health strategy, and advanced training for healthcare workers.

Representatives from USAID, FAO, World Bank, AMREF, and World Vision also took part in the negotiations, with USAID's Stephen Fitzpatrick and FAO's Jared Mark expressing their organizations' commitment to supporting the county's development initiatives.
