On Monday, Nakuru Court issued orders restraining a police officer and three County employees from accessing their offices after they were accused of attempting to extort Sh200,000 from a businessman.
Senior Principal Magistrate Lilian Arika ruled against the prosecution, which had sought to release the six suspects on the same terms as their cash bail.
However, the court released the six suspects on the same police cash bail, imposing the condition that they should not issue threats or interfere with any witness known to them.
The court also ordered that Amos Mworia, Daniel Maritim, Milka Ruguru, and Michael Sawe should keep away from their workplace for the coming seven days, and if need be, they will be escorted by the investigation officer to their working station.
Additionally, the court restrained the suspects from visiting the hotel Kunste where the alleged meeting with the complainant took place or the complainant's workplace until August 15.
Investigation officer Samuel Gikunda revealed to the court that he had received a call from Rift Valley Cabro Company Management, which said that people had gone to the quarry claiming that they were attached to labour and immigration officers.
The officer further told the court that Wakaliya, the owner, narrated to them on how the six claimed that they had received complaints that he was underpaying his workers.
