On August 7, 2019, Keroche Breweries announced plans to invest in sorghum farmers, committing to pay up to Sh200 million over the next five months.

The move is aimed at securing a steady grain supply for the company's new lager, which is made from 70% white sorghum and 30% barley.

Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja stated that the company would put farmers on contract to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality sorghum.

‘We have just started and we are going to contact thousands of small-scale farmers … We intend to buy 3,640,000 kilogrammes which will cost us Sh200.2 million that we will pay to the farmers,’ she said.

The company's new lager, KB Lager, targets the expanding middle-class market and is being sold in a long-neck bottle at a recommended introductory retail price of Sh120.

With a daily production capacity of 800,000 bottles of beer, Keroche Breweries plans to expand its portfolio to target the lower end of the alcoholic beverages market.
