On August 7, 2019, Premier League side Watford announced the signing of England international Danny Welbeck on a free transfer.

Welbeck, a one-time Champions League winner, became a free agent this summer after running out of contract with his former club Arsenal.

He spent five seasons at the Emirates Stadium, winning one FA Cup and Community Shield, and scoring 32 goals and bagging 15 assists in all competitions.

Welbeck last featured for the Gunners in November after suffering an ankle injury during an Europa League game against Sporting Lisbon.

He was part of the Gunners team that lost 4-1 to Chelsea in the final of the Europa League championship in May.

Welbeck joined Watford on a free transfer, having been released by Arsenal at the end of last season.

He was valued at €20 million when he joined Arsenal from Manchester United in 2014.
