Sebastien Migne, the Harambee Stars head coach, is facing backlash from fans after the team's defeat in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) against Tanzania.
According to reports, Migne is set to leave Kenya for France next week for an unknown period of time, leaving his assistants in charge of matters.
However, Migne has assured Kenyans that he is not leaving the country, but rather heading home with his family as his daughter is set to undergo a medical procedure.
"Don’t be afraid if from the 12th of this month you don’t see me. It is because I have a daughter who will be in hospital, I will go back to France," he told Capital FM.
Following the team's defeat, some Harambee Stars fans called for Migne's departure, citing his high payout of around KSh 50 million.
However, Migne has insisted that he is under contract and cannot resign, stating that he is a hard worker and will continue to work hard to improve the team.
"I am hard worker. This is not a defeat; it’s a draw.We are not qualified," he said.
"I knew when I signed in Kenya, it would be difficult but my way is to work hard and to try get something strong,” the tactician stated.
The team's defeat has sparked outrage among Kenyans, with many feeling that the team's lackluster performance was a result of Migne's poor squad selection and tactical decisions.
On August 4, Tanzania ousted Harambee Stars on penalties after drawing 0-0 in the first leg in Dar Es Salaam and again in the second leg played at Kasarani.
