Gor Mahia FC has welcomed new coach Steven Pollack, who arrived in the country on August 7, 2019, ahead of his official unveiling at the Kenyan Premier League club.

He will replace Hassan Oktay, who departed the country last week for his native Turkey before tendering his resignation on Tuesday over family issues.

The team has intensified its training at Jericho's Camp Toyoyo Grounds ahead of a crunch fixture against Burundi's Black Eagles this Sunday in Bujumbura.

Club interim coach Patrick Onyango says, except for injured Dennis Oliech, they are full house and ready for the weekend assignment.

"We are coping well except for Dennis Oliech whom is still recovering, I can say we are full house and ready for the CAF assignment," he said.

Onyango also praised the new players in the squad, saying they are skillful and will fight for slots in the first eleven.

Assistant coach Odhiambo has been handed the temporary coaching role and will hand over the coaching role to Finish coach Steven Pollack after his unveiling tomorrow.

He dispelled rumors that he will not be allowed on the touchline owing to his class 'C' CAF license, saying he is fully licensed by CAF and will play his role as the assistant coach on the touchline.

Gor Mahia FC will jet out on Friday for Burundi for the Champions League preliminary rounds first leg against Burundi powerhouse Black Eagles in Bujumbura.
