Victor Wanyama Sues Menengai Oil Refineries for Using His Image Without Consent ¶
Kenyan football star Victor Wanyama has taken Menengai Oil Refineries to court for using his image without consent during the 2019 AFCON tournament.
According to reports, Menengai Oil Refineries used Wanyama's image, along with that of Michael Olunga and Ovella Ochieng, on their Twitter page during the tournament.
Wanyama claims that the company used his image without his permission, which he says is a breach of his rights.
He also alleges that the company's intention was not to promote Harambee Stars' performance in the tournament, but to advertise their products.
Menengai Oil Refineries had posted a message on their Twitter page saying, "As you believe, we at Menengai would like to congratulate our young stars in AFCON."
However, Wanyama disputes this, saying that the company's intention was not to congratulate Harambee Stars, but to promote their products.
Wanyama is seeking compensation for the use of his image without his consent.
