Manchester United's new signing Harry Maguire has been handed the iconic No.5 shirt, a number previously worn by several distinguished players, including Rio Ferdinand.
Maguire sealed his move to Old Trafford in a six-year deal, worth a world record amount for a defender, and is set to go straight into the squad after being handed the No.5 shirt.
According to Manchester United, the Englishman sported the No.15 jersey during his two-year stay at Leicester City, but has previously worn No.5 at former clubs Hull City and Sheffield United.
Maguire's signing was announced on Monday, August 5, and he is expected to make his debut for the Red Devils on Sunday, August 11, against Chelsea.
Several players have worn the No.5 shirt for Manchester United, including Laurent Blanc and Rio Ferdinand, who wore it for 11 straight seasons.
