On August 7, 2019, Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder and Harambee Stars captain Victor Mugubi Wanyama took legal action against Menengai Oil Refineries Limited for using his image against his will.

According to reports, the incident occurred on June 21, 2019, when Menengai Oil Refineries Limited tweeted a message wishing the Harambee Stars good luck in the Africa Cup of Nations, which was being held in Egypt at the time.

Menengai Oil's tweet read: 'If you believe it, you can do it, we at the Menengai would like to wish our boys all the best in the Africa Cup of Nations.'

However, Wanyama feels that the tweet was never meant to wish the Harambee Stars good luck but to promote Menengai Oil's business.

He claims that the use of his image without his consent has infringed on his personality and image rights.

Wanyama is seeking justice for the alleged violation of his image rights.
